Lt. Gov. Wyman Encourages Residents To Donate To The Troops As Over 400 Connecticut National Guardsmen Remain In Deployment This Holiday Season
Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman and Major General Thad Martin, Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard, today launched the 16th annual Operation ELF (Embracing Lonely Families) holiday drive to support military families who are in the deployment cycle. Operation ELF helps lessen the financial stresses that families face during active duty deployment, and the program hosts an annual party to bring together military families during the holidays.

Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut Has Deployed 13 State Troopers To Puerto Rico For Post-Hurricane Tour Of Duty
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) has deployed 13 state troopers as part of Connecticut’s ongoing efforts to assist in Puerto Rico’s post-hurricane recovery efforts. The troopers, 12 of whom are fluent in Spanish, will be patrolling and providing security and traffic assistance in conjunction with the local police in Puerto Rico. The crew departed Bradley Airport early Monday morning.

Gov. Malloy: State Experiences Surge In Riders Utilizing The Recently Expanded CTTransit Bus Service Connecting UConn's Campuses
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state’s recently expanded CTtransit bus route providing UConn students, faculty, and staff the ability to connect – for the first time ever – to the main UConn campus in Storrs, the downtown Hartford UConn campus, and UConn Health in Farmington via public transit is experiencing a surge in ridership, having served over 32,000 passenger trips since its launch on August 13.

Gov. Malloy Announces State Begins Providing Reimbursements To Northeastern Connecticut Homeowners For Testing Of Crumbling Foundations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state’s testing program for homeowners in northeastern Connecticut impacted or potentially impacted by the ongoing crumbling foundation problem has opened its application process and eligible homeowners can now begin applying to receive reimbursements for the testing of their homes. The state is making $5 million available to provide assistance related the costs of testing foundations for homeowners, which will better provide the state with data related to the scope of the situation while providing homeowners with another level of financial relief.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and officials from across state government – on the fifth anniversary of Superstorm Sandy – today highlighted the progress made over the last several years to strengthen resiliency and harden infrastructure from future potential storms, as severe weather has continued to severely impact our nation. Superstorm Sandy was one of the biggest natural disasters to hit Connecticut in more than 60 years, the Governor said.

Gov. Malloy: State Launches New Website And Mobile App To Better Connect Veterans To The Benefits And Services They Have Earned
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that, as residents across the nation are preparing to celebrate Veterans Day, the State of Connecticut has debuted two new digital initiatives to assist the more than 200,000 veterans who live in the state in an effort to better connect veterans with the information on benefits and services that are available – a redesigned website for the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), and a newly launched smartphone app.
