    1. View Offer on the school card
    2. View Offer on the CTEC Application Card
    3. Accept or Decline by the deadline on your child's CTECS application and notification letter.
  • Have questions? We are happy to help:

2. Can I schedule a school tour or another way to talk to teachers, educators, and currently enrolled families? Yes, contact your school here and let them know what you are interested in and they can help you!

3. How much time do I have to make my decision and respond? You must respond by the deadline in your placement notification. You can find the response deadline by logging-in to your RSCO Account and downloading your placement letter from the Documents section of your Dashboard. The response deadline is also listed on the offer page. We understand that this is a big decision for your family and want to provide you with the time and information you need to make the best decision for your family. We hope you accept!

4. I received a placement opportunity at one of the technical high schools (A.I. Prince, E.C. Goodwin, or Howell Cheney) as an early applicant and a placement offer for a magnet school or Open Choice school, what do I do? When you receive your placement notification as an early CTECS applicant, you have the option to maintain the CTECS placement as pending until you receive information on magnet and Open Choice placements in the initial placement announcements in April for those programs.

If you also receive a magnet or Open Choice placement in the first round of magnet and Open Choice announcements, you will have to decide which one of these great schools you would like your child to attend.

When you decide

  • Log-in to your RSCO Account
    • Select view offers on your child's student card
    • Select view offers on your child's application
    • Select Accept in either the CTECS application or magnet application
  • The other placement offer will automatically decline.

Please remember, you may only accept one (1) offer and accepting an offer is considered a final decision. Once you accept a placement offer, your child's application is removed from all other waitlists and no other placements will be made for the 2023-24 school year.

5. What does it mean to accept my CTECS placement offer and what do I do next? When you accept the CTECS placement opportunity you have decided to have your child attend the technical high school in your notification letter for the 2023-24 school year.

There are a few additional steps you will need to complete after you accept your placement offer.

Step 1: You must register your child on-line with the technical high school as soon as you have accepted your placement offer, using the CTECS on-line school registration portal.

Registering your child online is a required step for enrollment at a technical high school. Note: Before beginning registration, please obtain the name and email address of the school official at your child's school who should be contacted by CTECS to request educational records.

In addition to completing the online registration process, families will receive further information and instructions from the technical high school on how to complete all required steps for admission.

Important Notes to keep in mind:

  • It is important to start the registration process immediately and complete it within the timeframe provided by the Technical High School.
  • Failure to register by the school's registration deadline will result in the removal of your child's placement offer.

Step 2: Report your Placement to your home district - After you complete the registration, and admission process for the technical high school; contact your local school/school district to report that you have accepted a placement with one of the Hartford Region technical high schools and will not be attending a school in your local district for the 2023-24 school year.

Step 3:  Once you completed registration and your child is enrolled, you do not need to reapply each year to continue in the magnet school. Unless you withdraw your child, they will remain enrolled at their technical high school until they reach the school's final grade. To enroll in any other Magnet, Hartford Region CTECS, or Open Choice school, a RSCO application must be submitted.

You must complete the registration process by the registration deadline in order to keep you child’s seat.

6. What does it mean to decline my CTECS placement opportunity? We hope you choose to accept, but we understand that interests and circumstances change. If you decide that you do not want to attend the technical high school listed in your placement notification, go to your child's CTECS application and select Decline. By selecting Decline, your child’s name will be removed from the Hartford Region technical high school application pool for the 2023-24 school year and your child will not be eligible for another placement offer to A.I. Prince, E.C. Goodwin or Howell Cheney for the 2023-24 school year. If you applied to magnets or Open Choice, your child may still receive an offer for a school in one of these programs. Applicants who applied to magnets and/or Open Choice may decline the CTECS offer and remain on the Waitlists for those programs.

7. The school isn't my first choice, will I get another offer? No, unfortunately you will not be receiving another CTECS placement offer through the RSCO placement process to A.I. Prince, E.C. Goodwin or Howell Cheney. If you are uncertain about your decision or are considering declining your placement opportunity, we encourage you to access your RSCO Account and visit the school card, which has details about the school or participate in a school event to learn more about the school first-hand to see if this school is a fit for your child!

8. I decided I do not want my child to go to the school in the placement notification; will my child's application be put on the waitlist if I decline do not respond?  If you decide to decline or do not respond to this placement offer, your child's application will be removed from the CTECS application pool for the 2023-24 school year. Applicants who applied to magnets and/or Open Choice may decline the CTECS offer and remain on the Waitlists for those programs.
