GOV. MALLOY: IT'S TIME FOR THE STATE TO LOOK FOR WAYS TO ADDRESS GENDER WAGE DISPARITY
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor, led by Commissioner Sharon Palmer, and the Department of Economic and Community Development, led by Commissioner Catherine Smith, will study the factors that contribute to the gender wage gap in Connecticut’s workforce and make recommendations for actions that will eliminate that inequity.

Governor Malloy will hold a news conference at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford to unveil a major legislative proposal. He will be joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst, State Senate President Donald E. Williams, Jr., Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, and other state lawmakers.

Applications Must Be Received by August 1 - Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman and Dept. of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz today announced that the state is seeking nominations for the 2013 Connecticut Veteran's Hall of Fame, which recognizes distinguished veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities after leaving military service.

Seven CT Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan To Be Added To Wall of Honor
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Atrium of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford. Families of many of the new honorees and of the 56 Connecticut military men and women previously lost in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are expected to attend.
