• 2/4/2013 GOV. MALLOY ESTABLISHES OFFICE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD TO HELP CLOSE ACHIEVEMENT GAP AND PREPARE CHILDREN FOR THE FUTURE

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, Department of Social Services Commissioner Rod Bremby, Department of Public Health Commissioner Jewel Mullen, Department of Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor, Office of Early Childhood Planning Director Myra Jones Taylor, and other state officials, today announced the establishment of the Office of Early Childhood (OEC). The new agency will provide a comprehensive, collaborative system for delivering improved programs and services to children ages zero to five and their parents.

Barry, and other state, railroad and local officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of the new West Haven commuter rail station which will primarily serve customers on the New Haven Line, which is operated by Metro-North Railroad under contract to ConnDOT. Recognized as the busiest rail corridor in the U.S., Metro-North’s New Haven Line saw ridership increase by 1.3% in 2012 with 38.8 million rides, breaking a record set in 2011, when the line carried 38.3 million people
