FAQS
Common Questions
- Who can apply?
Hartford residents with children entering prekindergarten age 4 (PK4) through grade 10. - How many school districts may I select?
Applicants may choose up to five (5) school districts based on their residential zone and rank them in order of preference. - How do priorities help in Open Choice
placements?
Open Choice priorities are generally only applied to the applicant’s first choice school district and may increase the likelihood of receiving a placement offer, but do not guarantee an offer. - Do I have to pay prekindergarten (PK) tuition?
No. - Are before and/or after care available?
No. - I applied to both Magnet Schools and the Open
Choice Program, will I receive an offer to both

If you receive a magnet offer, you will not receive an Open Choice offer, and if you receive an Open Choice offer, you will not receive a magnet offer. - How do I find my Hartford Residential Zone?
