PFAS in Private Wells

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a family of over 5,000 man-made chemicals. PFAS have many industrial and consumer uses, and the way in which these chemicals reach groundwater is still being investigated and will vary from one case to the next.

For basic information and common questions regarding PFAS, please visit the Department of Public Health (DPH) PFAS Webpage and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) PFAS Webpage.

For information specific to private wells, please consult the Private Well Information Section of the DPH PFAS page.
